Professor Snape made his way into his class room looking at the faces of his seventh year advanced potions class and felt a great need to sigh.

Prof.Snape: Wands away and books open to page 310, if you have not been complete and utter useless dunderheads over the past 6 years of your hogwarts schooling then you should recognize the instructions to this very simplistic version of a truth serum. It is not the same as veritaserum which forces you to tell the truth this is potion just takes away the need to lie..

Half of his students were indeed looking at the right page and yet he noticed some were looking at him if he were speaking to them in Chinese..

Prof.Snape: What are you waiting for.. Begin!

He went to sit down behind the desk and watched as the first students got up to get their ingredients..

Hayley got up quickly and took her book. She looked back as she swore Allissa was sitting next to her. She shrugged and watched Allissa grabbing her stuff together. Hayley took her stuff too and started reading the page. She took the first two ingredients and started to make the first color in the water. She crossed her fingers as the color turned blue. Her eyes grew as she had the first time in her life something good happened in potions.

Hayley wanted to bounce but then she would get in trouble and she didn't want that with someone like Snape. Hayley took the second ingredient and read the page four times before even using it.

Luckliy, Oli had stumbled into Potions class and taken her seat just before Professor Snape had turned up. She ran a hand through her long, dark hair and placed her textbooks on her desk. She was sat behind Hayley and she felt the need to hide her giggle when Cedric Diggory slid and sat down next to her. At first she ignored him and focused on what Snape was saying as there was no way he would repeat the instructions if she asked him to. Even if she asked nicely..

She turned to page three hundred and ten and read over it carefully before gathering the correct ingredients and creating the truth serum quickly and accurately. It wasn't that she was a potions boff, she simply knew how to follow instructions.. wierd considering she hardly ever did what she was told. She whispered forward quietly so Snape couldn't hear her: "Hayley, you ok?"

Hayley turned to Oli and smiled nodding. '' you? '' she whispered back and tried to do what the book said. ''professor!'' she called raising her hand. She swore that if you crush the beans there wil come more juice then when you cut them.. She smiled as Draco tried to get snapes attention by trying to be hurt. Hayley smiled and waited utnil he came.

Oli sent a smile in her friend's direction before giving her the thumbs up and a joking wink. She then sat back as she heard Hayley call for Professor Snape and pretended to make a few notes and evaluate the work she had done to create the serum. She had to stiffle her giggles when her attention was stolen by the melodramatic Draco and she saw her friend in front of her laugh a little bit. She even exchanged a brief glance with the individual sitting next to her..

"Miss Nelson is there a reason why you are pretending to be working instead of doing actual work"

The deep voice of Prof.Snape sounded a bit closer then she expected and she had to look up at him.

"10 points of Gryffindor for being late now I suggest you actually get to work before I decide that I was being mild and take more"

"But.." the voice of Hermoine Granger was cut off by a glare from Prof.Snape..

"Do you wish that I take even more points from your precious Gryffindor Miss Granger then please do continue.. Miss Nelson if I see your attention fading from your potions work again then you will be writing a 3 feet long parchment essay on the concequences of accidents in potions work due to lack of attention.. Am I understood?"

Oli stared up at the looming figure of her potions professor and her eyes grew wide for a moment. However, as the deep rumbling voice of Snape echoed throughout the classroom, Oli remained cool and composed. She took the scolding with a casual air and refrained herself from answering back to loose more points from her house. After all it wasn’t fair on her house mates that she was bringing the house down…

She answered Professor Snape with a humble “Clear as day sir.” Before turning to her textbook and finishing her work. Her thoughts accumulated in her head and she found the whole situation rather funny. However, her exterior was quiet and working hard to regain a little bit of respect from her classmates.

Hayley smiled and fell from her seat. The smell of her potion was awful and her eyes almost pointed at her nose. She got up qucikly looking at her potion which turned red... Was it supposed to be red? She looked in her book. No.. orange... Hayley sighed as she failed again. She grabbed the last ingredient and just threw it into the the potion. It turned bright orange. god! it was orange! she would jump happily but her points won't go better on this. She smiled and raised her hand. She was finished. yay!
